The theatrical performance of "The Trial of Kolokotronis" in Nafplio with the support of Axion Hellas
On Saturday, July 9th, 1,500 residents and visitors of Nafplio enjoyed the excellent theatrical performance of "The Trial of Theodoros Kolokotronis," dramatized by the Reppas-Pathanasiou team with music by Dimitris Papadimitriou.
The actors were exclusively Greek criminal lawyers who had been taught the play by director Stavros Karagiannis. The performance had already been staged at the Herodes Atticus Odeon and the Athens Concert Hall.
Axion Hellas, considering "The Trial of Theodoros Kolokotronis" to be a play of particular significance both artistically and educationally, supported and promoted the idea of presenting it in the historical location, the natural setting where the real trial took place. The opportunity was provided as part of the Nafplio Festival, which embraced the idea with the artistic director Giannis Bakarelis and the support of the Municipality of Nafplio.
Axion Hellas was there as a sponsor (within the framework of its educational and cultural activities), while major donors included the Union of Greek Shipowners and the Hellenic Chamber of Shipping. We were there in the Constitution Square in Nafplio, next to the building of the Hellenic Parliament (the first Hellenic Parliament), where Theodoros Kolokotronis was tried, and we watched this unique work with great satisfaction. It "captivated" those who saw it with its powerful messages about the importance of proper justice, the ethics of an impartial judge, and the utmost need for national unity.
We are happy that Axion Hellas was part of this unique effort.
