Northern Tzoumerka - Municipality of Pramanta: The 15th Mission of Axion Hellas Has Started!

Our volunteers are already in Northern Tzoumerka and will be there until December 2nd, providing medical examinations as well as educational and cultural activities for people of all ages.

Specifically, residents living in 24 mountainous villages at the foot of the Stroggoula peak will have the opportunity to undergo free medical examinations by distinguished doctors from 17 different specialties, using specialized, state-of-the-art medical equipment.

Based in the village of Pramanta, where the medical facilities are set up, residents from the broader area of the Municipality of Northern Tzoumerka—including the municipal units of Syrrako, Katsanochoria, Pramanta, Tzoumerka, Vathypedo, Matzukio, and Kalarytes—will visit the volunteer doctors and receive medical and microbiological tests if they wish.

As part of the 15th action of Axion Hellas, engaging cultural and educational events will be carried out for both children and adults. Through the first aid educational program "Be a Hero Too," young students will learn important first aid techniques. The "Safe Touch" program will raise awareness about abusive behaviors, and in the joint action by the National Olympic Academy and the Greek Olympians Association, "Respect Diversity, Love Sports," children will be taught not only Olympic sports but also respect for diversity by Olympians.

High school and junior high students will participate in the "Speak Truth to Power" program by the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Foundation, which is implemented in Greece by the Marianna V. Vardinoyannis Foundation. As part of sustainability and environmental respect education, events in collaboration with the Fire Department will be held, covering the importance of composting, and an art workshop with visual artist Irini Vergitsi will take place.

In the villages of Northern Tzoumerka, the world ultramarathon runner Dean Karnazes will join Axion Hellas. He will share his experiences with the residents and run a 3km trail race with them. Also accompanying this mission is Argiro Barbariou. The renowned chef and ambassador of Greek cuisine will join local women to embark on a magical journey of taste and tradition with local products and recipes. A memorable "Comedy Night" will be promised by comedian Lampros Fisfis, and the "Queen of Everything" will transport children into a world of imagination where anything can happen.

Since 2017, Axion Hellas has carried out 14 missions to dozens of remote areas in both the island and mainland Greece, providing 35,378 medical examinations to the remote inhabitants of our country.
