Participation in the "Athens Democracy Forum"
On 9 October, on the occasion of the Athens Democracy Forum, an excellent, interactive student presentation took place, entitled: "Embedding the values of an inclusive society. Where are we morally?", at the Benaki Museum of Islamic Art.
The students gave a presentation on human rights, poverty, immigration and other serious social issues in the framework of the "TELL THE TRUTH TO POWER" Project of the "Marianna B. B. Foundation". Vardinoyannis Foundation, the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Foundation, Axion Hellas and the Hellenic American Educational Foundation, Athens College. These are two students of Afghan and Pakistani origin, guests of THE HOME PROJECT, Tayebe and Alex, two students from the Lyceum of Kastelorizo, Efraima and Nikola and two students from the Hellenic-American Educational Foundation Athens College, Anna and Andreas.
The UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador and President of the Foundation, Mrs. Marianna V. "It is a great privilege for us to participate in the Athens Democracy Forum, to join forces with Axion Hellas and the Hellenic American Educational Foundation Athens College to convey the values of democracy, which, as the United Nations Secretary General Antonio Gutteres said, must be real in people's lives."
The floor was taken by @Axionhellas President, Vassilis Patras, and Prince Nikolaos, Management Consultant of @AxionHellas, where they spoke about our action in the outlying Greece within the framework of the "TELL THE TRUTH TO POWER" Programme. As Vassilis Pateras said: "We are proud that through the work of @axionhellas we convey values and ideals even in the most remote areas of Greece and we also contribute to the effort to create a better society for the new generations".
The "TELL THE TRUTH TO POWER" program is a pioneering human rights program of the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Foundation that is taught to millions of students around the world. It is based on the book by Kerry Kennedy and is taught in Greek schools on the initiative of Marianna V. Vardinoyannis for the fourth consecutive year with the participation of more than 150 schools from all over Greece. It is approved by the Ministry of Education, Research and Religious Affairs and aims to familiarize students with human rights.
The event was also introduced by the Executive Director of the United Nations Democracy Fund, Annika Savill, who spoke about the great importance of the "TELL THE TRUTH TO POWER" Programme. We are sad to see that even today we have still not achieved the UN's sustainable development goals. We must therefore try even harder".
Richard Jackson, President of the Hellenic American Educational Foundation Athens College, also spoke in detail about the implementation of the programme, which will be taught to 2,000 students this year. Afterwards, the six students, under the guidance of Dr. Jordan Papadopoulos, Professor of Social Sciences at the Athens College, presented in detail their activities within the framework of the Programme, holding an interesting dialogue on human rights.
In the audience we had the honour to be joined by Kerry Kennedy, author of the book "TELL THE TRUTH TO POWER".
