21st Mission: Skopelos | Alonissos | Kyra Panagia | Agios Efstratios | Samothrace

From the Sporades to Samothrace
5,759 medical services delivered during Axion Hellas’ 21st Mission

Axion Hellas’ 21st Mission has been successfully completed, leaving behind a strong footprint of contribution and support in remote areas across Greece. The mission departed from Athens and, covering a total distance of 515 nautical miles, reached the Sporades and the North Aegean, connecting with communities where access to healthcare, education, and cultural services remains limited.

Despite challenging weather conditions and the continuous adjustments required throughout the journey, the Axion Hellas team successfully reached every destination of the 21st Mission, completing all planned activities.

With the participation of 164 volunteers, the Axion Hellas team examined 1,387 residents over six days and carried out a total of 5,759 medical services through fully equipped clinics representing more than 21 medical specialties.

At the same time, 30 educational and cultural programs were implemented, engaging 584 children and 385 adults. Important social contribution initiatives also took place, including the collection of 62 donor samples for Orama Elpidas and the care of 83 stray animals in collaboration with SPAZ.

On Skopelos, 557 residents were examined and 2,028 medical services were delivered, alongside educational initiatives focused on environmental awareness, technology, first aid, and culture.

On Alonissos, 1,378 medical services were provided to 368 residents, while educational and environmental initiatives were also implemented, including the program “Truth to Power” in collaboration with the Marianna V. Vardinoyannis Foundation and Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights. A particularly meaningful moment of the mission was the medical examination of monks from Kyra Panagia by the mission’s medical team.

On Agios Efstratios, approximately 85% of the island’s permanent population received medical examinations.

The final destination of the mission, Samothrace, marked a particularly meaningful conclusion, with 374 residents examined and 1,760 medical services delivered. Educational and cultural activities were also carried out, alongside preventive dental examinations for primary school students.

An important cultural contribution was also made through the donation of the artwork “Spiritual Lighthouse” by Silvina Krontira, which now serves as a landmark for Samothrace.

The 21st Mission was made possible through the support of important donors and supporters, including Panagiotis & Violetta Tsikopoulou, The Hellenic Initiative (THI), Navarino, Roks Maritime, Motor Oil, LATSCO, Doric, Sekavin, the student community of Moraitis School, as well as many individuals, companies, and volunteers who have continuously supported the work of Axion Hellas over the years.

Axion Hellas warmly thanks all volunteers, partner organizations, donors, and supporters who contributed to the successful implementation of this mission.

Each Axion Hellas mission represents another step toward a Greece where access to healthcare, education, and culture is not determined by distance.
