15th Mission: Municipality of Northern Tzoumerka

The 15th mission of Axion Hellas in the Municipality of Northern Tzoumerka in the Epirus Region concluded with impressive participation. The mission saw high turnout at the medical clinics and notable engagement in educational and cultural activities from both children and adults.

A total of 421 residents from 24 villages visited the village of Pramanta, located at the foot of the Strogoula peak. Over the three-day period from November 30 to December 2, they underwent 1,918 medical examinations with state-of-the-art medical equipment provided by doctors specializing in 17 different fields.

In collaboration with the Regional Unit of Ioannina in the Epirus Region, the 15th mission of Axion Hellas also featured 12 cultural and educational events. This extensive program involved 1,150 residents from the municipal units of Syrrako, Katsanochoria, Pramanta, Tzoumerka, Vathypedo, Matsouki, and Kalarrites. Among them were 76 children and 321 adults.

Accompanying Axion Hellas in Northern Tzoumerka was the world-renowned ultramarathon runner Dean Karnazes, who shared his experiences with the residents and ran a 3km trail race with them. Another participant was the famous chef Argiro Barbarigou, who, alongside local women, created a magical journey of flavors and traditions using local products and recipes. She, along with Alexander Giotis from the Epirus Gastronomy Club, presented traditional recipes and cooking techniques. The residents also enjoyed an unforgettable "Comedy Night" with comedian Lampros Fisfis and were enchanted by "The Queen of Everything," who took the children on a magical journey into the world of imagination.

Through the "Become a Hero" first aid program, young students learned essential first aid skills, while the "Safe Touch" program educated them about abusive behaviors.

Students of all levels participated in the sustainability and environmental respect program and took part in fire safety events conducted in collaboration with the Fire Department. Additionally, rescue activities included traversing with "fly fox" equipment.

Since 2017, Axion Hellas has carried out 15 missions in numerous remote areas of both the island and mainland Greece, providing a total of 37,378 medical examinations to both children and adults in these regions.
